
Skime - Helena Skime, 92, died Sunday, June 27, 1999 at the Sheltering Oaks Manor in Roseau.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 1 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. Interment will be in the Bethesda Cemetery in Skime.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, June 30) from noon to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. devotional service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Helena Sofia Foss was born on November 13, 1906 in Hallock, the daughter of Hildegard (Lindell) and Sigvart Foss. After her schooling, she worked in different farm homes throughout the area.
On October 24, 1937 Helena was united in marriage to Harold Skime at Wannaska. The couple moved to the Skime area to farm and lived there for many years. In 1994 Helena moved to the Karlstad Nursing Home and then to Sheltering Oaks Manor in April of 1995.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing and was active in all church functions at Bethesda Lutheran Church, including Ladies Aid and teaching Sunday school.
Helena is survived by two sons, Roger (Bernice) Skime of Thief River Falls and Ron (Mary Lou) Skime of Wannaska; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Skime of Roseau and Gudrun Dahl of Gatzke; and one brother, Elmer Foss of Roseau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 1998; one sister and eight brothers.
