
Princeton - Elvina Sjaaheim, 86, died Thursday, April 1, 1999 at the Elim Home in Princeton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 5 at First Baptist Church in Roseau with Reverend Kim Swenson officiating. Interment was in Falun Cemetery. The Helgeson Funeral Home of Roseau was in charge of the arrangements.
Elvina J. Herling was born on June 11, 1912 in Falun township, the daughter of Emil and Clara (Norberg) Herling. She grew up and attended school in Falun township.
On November 12, 1937 she was united in marriage to Herbert Sjaaheim at Grand Forks, ND. They lived and farmed in the Skime and Falun area and later moved to Wannaska where they lived until Herbert died in 1966. Elvina then moved to Roseau where she worked at Polaris for several years and then in the kitchen at Brandt's Restaurant until her retirement in 1983. Following a fall in 1997 she moved to Elim Home in Princeton.
Elvina is survived by three sons, Orville (Sharon) Sjaaheim of Milaca, Gordon (Sharon) Sjaaheim of Brooklyn Center and Wally (Mary) Sjaaheim of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Herbert; one daughter, Lenore; eight brothers, three sisters; and one daughter-in-law, Debbie. A00003B1999AR14
