
Thief River Falls - Tillie Simonson, 93, died Monday, June 1, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, June 3) at 2 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Reverend Curtis Anderson officiating. Joyce Halbasch will be the organist, and Judith Lawrence will provide vocal music. Burial will be in the Landstad Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
Otilla "Tillie" Simonson was born on November 22, 1904 in Pennington county near St. Hilaire to the late Andrew and Caroline (Borkrud) Simonson. She grew to adulthood near St. Hilaire where she attended school. She was baptized in the Christian faith on June 11, 1905 at St. Hilaire.
In 1922, Clara went to live with her sister, Clara Sevre, and assisted her with housework. Later she moved to sister Julia Anderson's home when she became ill. She also worked at the Ogema Hotel and Thompson's Cafe in Thief River Falls. She lived in Minneapolis for a number of years, receiving medical care at the University of Minnesota.
In September of 1951 she moved to the Erickson Rest Home in Thief River Falls. In 1966 she moved to Kee's Rest Home and later to Valley Home. For the past seven years Tillie has resided at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Tillie was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Gunda Simonson, Clara Sevre, Josephine Leach, Julia Anderson and Alma Hanson; and one brother, Henry Simonson.
