
Goodridge - Harry Sigerud, 88, died Sunday, August 8, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Margie Iverson will be the organist, and the soloist will be Deb Farris. Casketbearers will be Jim Horning, Mark Horning, Mitch Horning, Kurt Sigerud, Jon Sigerud and Trent Kohlmeyer. Interment will be in Rosendal Cemetery in Reiner township of Pennington county.
Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Harry Sigerud was born on July 20, 1911 in Reiner township of Pennington county, the son of Emil and Ingeborg (Fredrickson) Sigerud. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attending Pershing country school in Reiner township. At the age of 11 he started working in potato fields in North Dakota, sleeping in barns at the work sites. He also worked on road construction for Oscar Schankey, Herb Holthusen and Charles Hedeen.
On September 25, 1937 Harry was united in marriage to Mabel Tangen, and the couple was involved in family farming. Harry was employed as a lead man on the paint line at Arctic Cat and was given the nickname "Happy Harry" because he whistled as he worked.
He enjoyed dancing and listening to music, especially accordion music. He also enjoyed family gatherings, his grandchildren and traveling, seeing new sights or just driving around looking at neighborhood crops.
Harry is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Allen) Horning of Casper, WY and Deb (Lance) Kohlmeyer of Oakes, ND; two sons, Larry (Doreen) Sigerud of Goodridge and Jim (Judy) Sigerud of Pewaukee, WI; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; one brother, Otto (Hulda) Sigerud of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; his parents; four brothers, John Sigerud, Edwin Sigerud and two infant brothers; and three sisters, Carrie Hermanson, Olga Sorter and Elga Hermanson.
