
Thief River Falls - Clarence Sevre, 89, died Thursday, November 23, 2000 at the CN & C Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 25 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Diane Johnson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Curtis Swanson, Lyle Swanson, Larry Myhrer, Kenneth Kalsnes, Glenn Kalsnes and Jarrod Kalsnes. Interment was in Eidsvold Cemetery in Norway township of Kittson county near Halma. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Clarence Martin Sevre was born on August 20, 1911 in St. Hilaire, the son of Olavus and Taletha (Thoreson) Sevre. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school at St. Hilaire. In his younger days, he also spent time at a CC camp.
Clarence farmed for several years and then worked at Farmers Elevator in Thief River Falls for a few years. He worked at the Hartz store in Thief River Falls for 13-1/2 years and also worked at the Co-op gas station.
He married Esther Spilde on March 31, 1972 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Golden Pioneers.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Esther of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Dana (Doug) Amiot of Thief River Falls; three stepdaughters, Irene (Duane) Ronnander of Menomonie, Wisc., Gay (Gary) Sommerfield of Grand Forks, N.D. and Fay Spilde of Altoona, Wisc.; a half-sister, Grace Ortloff of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Clara; an infant brother; and three half-brothers, Charles, Donald and Glen. A00003B2000NV29
