Falls - Burnie D. Seaverson, 77, died Sunday, November 5, 2000 at
the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 10 at Zion Lutheran
Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating.
Casketbearers will be John Seaverson, Jerome Larson, Gary Langheid,
Eric Taylor, Carl Kostrzewski and Sonny Lindahl. Military rites will
be provided by the Thief River Falls American Legion and VFW Posts.
Interment will be in Landstad Cemetery in Sanders township of
Pennington county.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Burnie Dloris Seaverson was born on February 24, 1923 in Sanders township of Pennington county, the son of John and Clara (Sevre) Seaverson. He was baptized and confirmed at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church in Sanders township. He attended a rural school at Oak Grove in Sanders township. On July 25, 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and held the rank of Seaman First Class. He earned the American Theatre Medal, Victory Medal and European Theatre Medal and was honorably discharged on June 4, 1946.
On December 22, 1950, Burnie was united in marriage to Alice Jensen at Webster, S.D. The couple moved to Thief River Falls where they raised their family. Prior to entering the military, Burnie drove truck for Peterson-Biddick. After returning from the service, he worked for a short time at Peterson-Biddick and also worked with the Soo Line bridge gang. For more than 30 years he maintained an accident-free record as a truck driver for L.B. Hartz. Alice died on November 6, 1997.
He enjoyed attending auction sales, antiquing, collecting, driving truck, listening to country music, gardening, traveling, playing cards and especially spending time with family and friends.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the VFW and Sons of Norway.
Burnie is survived by two sons, Bruce (LaVonne) Seaverson of Middle River and Warren (special friend Carole Vandel of Lake George) Seaverson of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Bonnie Toulouse of Minneapolis and Valerie (Chet) Engelman of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Roger in 1996; a grandson, Darren Seaverson in 1994; his parents; two brothers, Percy and Lloyd; and four sisters, Helen Forsberg, Verna Sjolsvold, Pearl Klemmetson and Doris Seaverson. A00003B2000NV11
