St. Hilaire - Evelyn Scott, 79, died Saturday, February 22, 1997 near her home. Arrangements are with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire with Rev. Terri Skildum officiating. Burial will be in Norden Cemetery in Norden Township, Pennington County. Visitation was held Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to services at the church.
Casketbearers will be Jeremy Johnson, Jason Scott, Michael Scott, John Weber, Nathan Scott and Joel Melvie.
Evelyn Mae Buntjer was born on February 10, 1918 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Harry and Katie (Munk) Buntjer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. The family moved to Munich, ND when Evelyn was a youngster and she attended rural school near Munich, ND. She worked on area farms as a domestic worker in the Langdon, ND area. She was united in marriage to Donald Scott on March 26, 1940 in Hampden, ND. The couple farmed in several places near Langdon, ND until moving to Sanders Township, Pennington County in 1957. They farmed in Sanders Township until moving into St. Hilaire in 1965. Donald died on August 21, 1988.
Evelyn attended Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and being with her family.
She is survived by children Viola (Erwin) Melvie of Viking, Donna Rux of Thief River Falls, Donald Scott of Thief River Falls, Kenneth (Linda) Scott of Phoenix AZ, Betty Brownlee of Hurst, TX, Raymond (Cindy) Scott of Red Lake Falls, and Richard (Michelle) Scott of Thief River Falls; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Allen Scott of Langdon, ND.
She was preceded in death by husband Donald; daughter Lois Scott; parents; sisters Sylvia Buntjer, Dorothy Duerr and Elizabeth Buntjer.
