
Crookston - Harold Schumaker, 83, died Sunday, July 23, 2000 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 28 at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston. Interment will be in St. Olds Cemetery in Grygla.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services.
Harold Ruben Schumaker was born on October 18, 1916 in Sparta, Wisc., the son of Fred and Rectina (McCoy) Schumaker. When he was three years old, he moved with his family to Grygla where he grew up and attended school.
In 1958, Harold was united in marriage to Augusta Heyer at Bemidji. Over the years, the couple lived in several northern Minnesota towns. Augusta died in 1966. Harold moved to Crookston several years ago.
He was a regular at Crookston's Golden Link Senior Center where he enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool.
Harold is survived by one son, Art (Della) Schumaker of Cass Lake; one daughter, Charlotte Schumaker of Missouri; three grandchildren; two brothers, Wesley (Joyce) Laughery of Grand Forks, N.D. and Jesse (Mary Jane) Laughery of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three sons, Orville, Robert and Raymond; one sister, Clara Hudson; one brother, Leonard Schumaker; and one niece.
