Ione Schiltz, 57

Minnetonka - Ione Schiltz, 57, of 3337 Jidana Lane, Minnetonka, and formerly of Holt, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Funeral services were held on April 3 at Vision of Glory Lutheran Church in Plymouth with Pastor Leland Everson officiating. Special vocal music was provided by Ione's niece and her husband, Kerry and Beth (Erickson) Benjamin of Litchfield. Casketbearers were Virgil Erickson, Floyd Erickson, Duane Haukebo, Don Grussing, Guy Grussing and Robert Skelton. Burial was in Groveland Cemetery in Minnetonka. The David Lee Funeral Home of Wayzata was in charge of the arrangements.

Ione Opal Erickson was born on October 14, 1940, in East Valley township of Marshall county, the daughter of Eneas and Olga (Olson) Erickson. She was the granddaugher of Hendrik and Kersten Erickson, pioneer homesteaders in East Valley township. She attended grade school in Ringbo and graduated from high school in Newfolden in 1958. As a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business, Ione worked as a court reporter in the Minneapolis area.

On February 4, 1967 she was united in marriage to Larry Schiltz of Caledonia at Minneapolis. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Minnetonka where they made their home until the present time.

Ione was afflicted with rheumatoid arthritis and spent many of her later years homebound. Her family treasures memories of Ione as a girl who loved to trap and hunt, as a teenager who enjoyed sports cars, skiing and hunting and as a woman who loved her family and never complained about her illness, always wearing a smile and enjoying life even though her mobility was limited. She especially enjoyed her two grandsons, Brandon and Jeremy Frisco.

Ione is survived by her husband, Larry; two daughters, Kim Frisco of Minnetonka and Kerstin Schiltz of Minneapolis; two grandsons; son-in-law, Jerome Frisco of Minneapolis; one sister, Violet (Russell) Becklund of Blaine; two brothers, Floyd (Ellen) Erickson of St. Paul and Virgil (Cathy) of rural Middle River; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Ione was preceded in death by her father in 1955 and her mother in 1997.
