
Red Lake Falls - Vena Scheuring, 91, died Friday, January 1, 1999 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, January 4 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Kathie Knott was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers were John Grenier, Jeff Grenier, Fred Violette, Jim Violette, Pat Hanson and Paul Hanson. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Vena Latendresse was born February 23, 1907 at Red Lake Falls, the daughter of Majoric and Hobeline (Grenier) Latendresse. She attended school and grew up in Red Lake Falls. When Vena was very young her mother died, and she took care of her brothers.
On April 7. 1947 she was united in marriage to Bernard Scheuring in Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls. Bernard died on July 4, 1986. Since January 13, 1997 Vena has resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Guild. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, music, gardening and in recent years, meeting and visiting with people at the casino.
Vena is survived by one son, Ben (Jan) Scheuring of Fargo, ND; two granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave Latendresse of Red Lake Falls; and one sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Leo Latendresse.
