Isaac Sauve, 92

Red Lake Falls - Isaac Sauve, 92, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Isaac Peter Sauve was born on January 17, 1906 to Joseph and Mary (Dondoneau) Sauve at Brooks where he was raised and attended school. On June 18, 1929 he was united in marriage to Eva Carriere at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks. The couple farmed near Brooks until 1951 when they moved to Thief River Falls where Isaac worked as an assistant manager of a grain elevator. In 1955 they moved to East Grand Forks where he was employed as a foreman at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. In 1969 Isaac and Eva retired to Red Lake Falls and opened a furniture upholstery shop, a business that grew from a hobby.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Isaac is survived by his wife, Eva of Red Lake Falls; four sons, Virgil (Doreen) Sauve of St. Paul, Raymond (Bernice) Sauve of Bemidji, Melvin (Jeanne) Sauve of St. Paul and Darel (Darlene) Sauve of Elon College, NC; one daughter, Noella Sokol of St. Louis, MO; 28 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four infant children; and 14 brothers and sisters.
