
Greenbush - Leonard Sather, 85, of Greenbush died Tuesday, May 13 at the Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at the United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor Dennis Gray officiating. Darlene Waage was the organist. Special music was provided by Orelle Vatnsdahl and Pastor Alvin Sather. Pallbearers were Dean and Clark Sather, Mike Burkel, Roger, Gary and Wayne Klemetson. Honorary bearers were Hansel Klemetson and Isack Jackson and all his friends and relatives. Burial was in Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush. Arrangements were with the Gieseke Funeral Chapel in Greenbush.
Leonard Sather was born March 26, l912 in Skagen Township, Roseau County, the son of Ole and Hansine Olson Anderson Sather. He grew up and attended schol in Skagen Township. On October 19, 1940, he married Maymie Roberts in Roseau County. Since their marriage, they have farmed in Skagen Township. Leonard served on the Skagen Township board for many years, was a past board member of the Roseau Co. Co-op Assn. and was a member of United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush.
Surviving Leonard are his wife, Maymie of Greenbush; daughter, Darlene Ihrke of Greenbush; and three grandchildren.
Leonard was the last survivor of fourteen children in his family. Preceding him were his parents; five half-brothers, Ove, Anton, Jentof, Hilmer and Martin Anderson; two half-sisters, Harda (Adolph) Hagen and Hilda (Alfred) Bergland; four brothers, Emil, Arnt, Alfred and Oliver Sather and two sisters, Alma (Oscar) Graff and Otelia (Ted) Hagen.
