
Erskine - Julia Sannes, 86, died Monday, January 11, 1999 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 15 at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine with Reverend Kwen Sanderson officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Erskine.
Julia Marion Berglund was born on December 8, 1912 in Clearbrook, the daughter of Oluf and Olive (Lund) Berglund. She graduated from high school in Clearbrook and attended Bemidji State College. She taught at rural school north of Gonvick and near Itasca State Park. She also worked at the B.B. Lunch Cafe in McIntosh for a short time.
Julia was united in marriage to Arthur Sannes on October 21, 1939 in Bagley. The couple resided on a farm south of Erskine for many years. After Arthur died in 1981, Julia remained on the farm until moving to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in March of 1996.
She raised and sold strawberries for many years and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Julia is survived by one son, James A. Sannes of Erskine; one daughter, Laurel Nabben of Thief River Falls and Clinton Castle of Holt; two sisters-in-law; and several other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Alpha Berglund and Beatrice Welte; and three brothers, John Oliver, Wilfred and Ted.
