Kenneth LeRoy Sander was born May 24, 1923 in Eddy township near Clearbrook to Carl and Ethel (Lindberg) Sander. He grew up and attended school in Queen township in rural Fosston and in 1942 completed training at Haugen's School of Mechanical Knowledge in Fosston.
Kenneth was baptized at Oak Park Church and confirmed at Cross Lake Lutheran Church near Fosston. On May 20, 1959 he was united in marriage to Joyce (Odny) Einevoll Skala at his parents' farm in Queen township where the couple lived for most of their lives.

During his lifetime, Kenneth was active at Cross Lake Lutheran Church and Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served on several church boards. He played baseball for the Queen township Plowboys and was a member of the National Farmers Organization. He was well known for raising clover seed and as a promoter of ethanol fuel. He enjoyed working outdoors, dancing and visiting. An avid reader, he was proud of his Swedish heritage.
