
Karlstad - Sheldon U. Sandberg, 84, died Friday, September 4, 1998 at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center in Karlstad.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Reverend Alden Erlandson officiating. Lenore Olson was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Everett Englund. Casketbearers were Arnold Englund, Jim Sollund, Hubert Sang, Dale Grandstrand, Mark Sang and Justin Dagen. Interment was in the Karlstad Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Sheldon Uno Sandberg was born on May 28, 1914 near Kennedy, the son of Alfred and Hannah (Swanson) Sandberg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school and grew up in the Kennedy and Karlstad communities. In the 1930's he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp near Bena and later for Kiene Farms near Kennedy.
On October 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Pearson at Lake Bronson. The couple farmed west of Karlstad until 1969 when they moved into Karlstad and have since resided. Sheldon was also employed by Arctic Enterprises in Karlstad for several years.
He was a long-time member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Karlstad, serving on its church council for several years.
Sheldon is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Stacey Pagnac of Stephen and Kristen Sandberg of Rolla, ND; three grandchildren; one sister, Alpha Schulte of Alexandria; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ardine and Roger; and three sisters, Edna, Una in infancy, and Adeleen.
