Minnie Salvhus, 87

McIntosh - Minnie Salvhus, 87, died Friday, September 1, 2000 at First Care Hospital in Fosston.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, at Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Dale Mellgren officiating. Burial was in Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Cemetery. Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh was in charge of the arrangements.

Minnie Josephine Dyrdahl was born on September 4, 1912 in Richland, the daughter of Joseph and Matilda (Marum) Dyrdahl. As a young girl, she moved with her family to McIntosh where she attended and graduated from high school.

On January 4, 1936, she was united in marriage to Andrew Salvhus in McIntosh. The couple resided at the Salvhus family's farm home north of McIntosh. In the spring of 1943, they moved to Lessor township where they farmed and raised their family. The couple moved in to McIntosh in 1978, Minnie worked at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home for many years until her retirement. After Andrew's death on April 3, 1990, Minnie continued to live in McIntosh and became a resident of McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in July of 2000.

She was a member of Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Church and a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in Ladies Aid and was a release time and Sunday school teacher for many years.

Minnie enjoyed baking and sewing and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Arvid (Lori) of Twin Valley and David (Sandra) and Daniel (Mary), both of McIntosh; two daughters, Joanne (Glen) Brua of McIntosh and Marilyn Hamre of Thief River Falls; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Moore of McIntosh and Susan Dyrdahl of Minneapolis; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; parents; four brothers, Joseph, Nels, Obert and Harry; three sisters, Martha, Anna and Mabel; and one son-in-law, Leighton Hamre. A00003B2000SP06
