Holt - Vivian Sagstuen, 83, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services
will be held at
10:30 a.m. on
Friday, February 9, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt with Rev. Jay
Borchert officiating. Beverly Lindstrom will be the organist, and the
soloist will be Don Lunke. Casketbearers will be Gary Sagstuen, James
Sagstuen, Scott Sagstuen, David Myers and Gus Berggren. Interment
will be in Holt Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Vivian Adeline Larson was born on November 12, 1917 in Mud Lake township of Marshall county, the daughter of Clarence O. and Bertha (Moe ) Larson. She was baptized on December 23, 1917 in Golden Valley in Marshall county and confirmed in 1931 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Vivian attended a country school and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
On June 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Louis Richard Sagstuen at Holt. The couple made their home in Holt where they owned and operated Holt Mercantile. Later, they moved to Newfolden where they owned and operated Sagstuen/Smeby Hardware. Louis later became a part of Newfolden Machining, and Vivian worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Conoco Oil Company. Following retirement, the couple continued to live at their rural Newfolden home. Following Louis' death on December 26, 1990, Vivian moved into Newfolden.
She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where she was active in Sunday school and with women's activities.
Vivian enjoyed sewing, feeding and watching birds, flowers and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Warren Sagstuen of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; four sisters, Marian Larson of St. Paul, Eileen Johnson of Seattle, Wash., Iris Berggren of Strandquist and Ardelle Daly of Fort Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Clayton (Beatrice) Larson of Plummer and Glen (Marlene) Larson of Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Chester and twins in infancy; and a sister, Eleanor. A00003B2000FB07
