Thief River Falls - Tillie Sabo, 97, died Sunday, September 6, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 1998 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Loren Lusignan, Orvis Byklum, Richard Byklum, Roger Pittman, Larry Pittman and Kevin Johnson. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held from noon until 5 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 9) at Green Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Tillie Nesland was born on December 10, 1900 in East Grand Forks, the daughter of Ole and Birget (Mosdol) Nesland. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1914 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Grygla. Tillie attended grade school in Grygla and additional schooling in Crookston.
On April 11, 1949 she was united in marriage to Reverend E. O. Sabo. He died in 1955. Tillie worked as a nurse's aid at Valley Home and Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls where she made her home.
She enjoyed reading, discussing politics and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Tillie is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Knut and Dreng Nesland; and three sisters, Thora Byklum, Gunhild Byklum and Julia Dvergsteen.
