Floyd Rux, 73

Erskine - Floyd Rux, 73, died Saturday, October 18, 1997 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25 at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend William Kerr officiating. Grace Hammer provided the special music. Burial was at the Rux Cemetery in Sanders township of Pennington County. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Floyd Clinton Rux was born March 23, 1924 in Reynolds, ND, the son of Walter and Lillie (Lenz) Rux. He attended school in rural Reynolds, ND and moved with his family to rural Thief River Falls in 1946.

On October 31, 1948 Floyd was united in marriage to Lillian Nordhagen. Floyd worked for Montgomery Ward from 1951 until it closed and then went to work for Forsbergs. In 1966 he started working for the State of Minnesota Highway Department and retired in 1986. At that time he and Lillian sold their home and moved to their home on Union Lake near Erskine.

Floyd and Lillian enjoyed making woodcrafts together. Floyd was always feeding the birds and trying to outwit squirrels from stealing birdseed. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Thief River Falls.

Floyd is survived by his wife Lillian of Erskine; two daughters, Donna (Terry) Cooper of Renton, WA and Elodee Quill of Minot, ND; two sons, Howard Rux and Loren Rux of Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Wanda (Clarence) Schroeder of Bemidji and June (Cecil) of Littlefork; three brothers, Clayton (Jean) Rux of Anoka, Delmer (Gloria) Rux of Thief River Falls and Franklin (Wendy) Rux of Worcester, MA; a sister-in-law, Donna Rux; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard in infancy and Orlie in 1990.
