
Gatzke - Herman Ruud, 88, died Friday, November 21, 1997 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, November 26 at 1 p.m. at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau with Carlyle Mugaas officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be at the Moose River Cemetery in Gatzke.
Herman Edwin Ruud, the son of Rose (Johnson) and Edward Ruud, was born on February 22, 1909 in Gatzke. In addition to farming, he worked a rural mail carrier.
On April 24, 1936 he was united in marriage to Alice Johnson in Thief River Falls. They continued farming in the Gatzke area. Herman entered the Hillcrest Nursing Home just three weeks prior to his death.
Herman is survived by one daughter, Marie (Virgil) Sorenson of Plummer; two sons, Eugene (Cindi) Ruud of Roseau and Roger (Ruby) Ruud of El Dorado Springs, MO; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cheslie Ruud of Gatzke and Arthur Ruud of Goodridge; and one sister-in-law, Vivian Ruud.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alice in 1996; two brothers, John and Lester; and one sister, Effie.
