
Grand Forks, ND - Ken "Bud" Rustad, 68, died Friday, October 24, 1997 at his home in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 28 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Jim Taylor was the organist. Ron Oltmanns was the soloist. Casketbearers were Sherman Rustad, Harlan Rustad, Richard Wentz, James Wentz, Al Wold and Kent Larson. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth Allen Rustad was born on April 7, 1929 to Edwin and Lena (Johnson) Rustad in Thief River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church at attended Lincoln High School.
On May 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Florence Lien in Thief River Falls. That summer he was called to service in the United States Army and served overseas in Japan and Korea with the 24th Infantry Division in 1950 and 1951. For several years Ken worked for Kiewel Products and Northern Woodwork of Thief River Falls before being employed as a Minnesota State Dispatcher for 28 years, first in Virginia and then in Thief River Falls. Ken was also a rural mail carrier serving a Thief River Falls route for over 20 years. He retired in 1993, and he and Florence moved to Grand Forks in 1995.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Ken is survived by his wife Florence of Grand Forks, ND; three sons, Craig and Steven of Grand Forks, ND and Mitchell of New York City, NY; and one sister, Bernice Conklin of San Mateo, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Lloyd; and one sister, Irene Wentz.
