
Thief River Falls - Roy Runnestrand, 81, died on Saturday, July 24, 1999 at his home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, July 28) at Telemarken Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, with Reverend Raynard Huglen officiating. Grace Hammer will be the organist and will also provide vocal music. Casketbearers will be Robyn Houle, Rachel Houle, Ryan Houle, Gerald Sanders, Elwood Tieman, Greg Srnsky, Christian Iverson and Ryan Bakken. Burial will be in Telemarken Cemetery, rural Goodridge.
Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, July 27 at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Roy Runnestrand was born on April 25, 1918 in Kratka township of Pennington county, the son of Henry and Clara (Tronnes) Runnestrand. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Telemarken Church by Reverend E. O. Sabo. Roy attended District 41 Rural School.
He worked for a number of farmers in the area and retired from Evans Feed and Seed in Thief River Falls. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in campaigns in Italy, Africa and Saudi Arabia.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Roy is survived by four sisters, Evelyn Schwartz and Lorraine (Orvis) Sletten, both of Thief River Falls, Marilyn (Clarence) Sletten of Plummer and Arlene Hagen of Chester, MT; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry Jr., Raymond and Lewis Runnestrand; three sisters, Hazel Nabben, Cora Nabben and Annie Hilda in infancy; one nephew; and two great-nephews. A00003B1999JL28
