Allen Roppe, 59

Britt - Allen B. Roppe, 59, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999 at his home in Britt.

Services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Sand Lake Chapel in Britt with Rev. Joshua Eddy officiating. Burial was in Sand Lake Chapel Cemetery in Britt with the Range Funeral Home of Virginia in charge of the arrangements.

Allen B. Roppe was born on November 9, 1939 in Warren, the son of Bert and Adeline (Lee) Roppe. He grew up and attended school in Newfolden and later International Falls.

On Sept. 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to Olga Badiuk at Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Eveleth prior to moving to Britt. Allen was employed by USX Mining Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1997.

Allen was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors, cars and trucks.

He was a member of United Steel Workers Union Local 1938 of Virginia.

Allen is survived by his wife, Olga; three daughters, Julie (Kevin Stern) Roppe-Stern of Duluth, Patty (Jim) Anderson of Grand Rapids and Tina (Lowell) Sola of Britt; two sons, Barry Roppe of Parkville and Brent (Dawn) Roppe of Luverne; five grandchildren; his parents, Bert and Adeline Roppe of Newfolden; two brothers, Gale (Joyce) Roppe of Eveleth and Larry (Linda) Roppe of Iron; one sister, Sherlyn (Chuck) Olson of Newfolden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
