
McIntosh - Mary G. Rolf, 62, died Monday, July 26, 1999 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 31 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Reverend Kwen Sanderson officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Service of Fosston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Grace Walford was born on April 5, 1937 in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Alfred J. and Rosemary "Babe" (Thompson) Walford. She attended the Doyan Public School in Doyon, ND. After school, she was employed as a waitress at Great Northern Hotel and Restaurant in Devils Lake. In 1955, she began working as a cashier at the Red Owl grocery store.
Mary was united in marriage to Vernon LeRoy Rolf on September 2, 1956 at McIntosh. The couple lived in Fosston where they both worked at the Red Owl store. The moved to Devils Lake where they lived for two years and then moved to Virginia. In the fall of 1970, they moved to McIntosh where they settled south of town on the family farm. For a few years Mary worked as a bartender at the VFW club.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon; two daughters, Shelly Marie (Dwight) Johnson of Thief River Falls and Shari Lynn (Jeff) Baird of Red Lake Falls; two sons, Paul Vernon Rolf and Patrick William (Karen) Rolf, both of McIntosh; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Gene) Kackman of West Fargo, ND; six brothers, David (Gladys) Walford and John (special friend Marge) Walford, both of Devils Lake, ND, Ken (Carol) Walford of Warwick, ND, Robert (Bev) Walford of Tolma, ND, William (special friend Patricia) Walford of Devils Lake and Larry (Sherry) Walford of Camp Grafton, ND; one uncle; two aunts; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Clayton Wayne, who was born and died on September 9, 1959; her parents; and several aunts and uncles. A00003B1999AG04
