
Karlstad - Esther Roddy, 85, died Wednesday, June 3, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Kirstin Olson was the organist, and Ruth Halverson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Rodney Twistol, Randy Twistol, Lionel Johnson, Danny Johnson, Henry Johnson and James Fugleberg. Interment was in the Karlstad Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Esther Yvonne Anderson was born on December 22, 1912 near Karlstad, the daughter of Lars and Julia (Twistol) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew to womanhood in the Karlstad community, graduating from Karlstad High School in 1931.
Esther worked in restaurants in Crookston, Grand Forks and Minneapolis prior to moving to Los Angeles, CA. She resided in Palm Desert, CA for many years where she was employed in restaurants and also sold real estate. In 1981, Esther returned to Karlstad and resided at Oakwood Homes and was employed at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center for several years. She had recently resided at nursing homes in Karlstad, Erskine and Thief River Falls and for the past month at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center.
Esther is survived by several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gust and Andrew.
