Mervin Rindahl, 84

Goodridge - Mervin Rindahl, 84, died Thursday, November 25, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 29 at Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Grace Hammer was the organist and soloist. Casketbearers were Carmen Langevin, Chris Prigge, Chad Danielson, Amanda Rindahl, Shelly Danielson, Andy Rindahl, Matt Rindahl, Ross Rindahl and Sara Rindahl. Burial was in Little Oak Cemetery in Hickory township of Pennington county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Mervin Thomas Rindahl was born on November 9, 1915 in Benedict, ND, the son of Ben and Minnie (Florence) Rindahl. He was baptized on November 14, 1915 at Concordia Lutheran Church in McLean county of North Dakota and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge. He attended Little Oak country school in Hickory township of Pennington county. After finishing school, he began to farm. During the 1950s he worked on the Iron Range. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years in the construction business and also raised beef and dairy cattle.

On June 20, 1942 Mervin was united in marriage to Doris Brovold at her home in Gully.

He was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church and enjoyed trapping and hunting wolves, mink and deer. He especially enjoyed hunting on horseback, and he also liked to tell stories of the old days and play the accordion.

Mervin is survived by his wife; two daughters, Pam (Virgil) Prigge of Chisholm and Teri (Allan) Danielson of Gonvick; three sons, Mark (LuAnn), Tom and Paul (Vicky) Rindahl, all of Goodridge; one sister, Tilla Johnsrud of McIntosh; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Thomas and Donald; one brother, Orland; and three sisters, Emma Johnsrud, Anne Stenvick and Florence Stenvick. A00003B1999DC01
