Emilie Riggs, 47

Shevlin - Emilie Riggs, 47, died Monday, March 6, 2000 in Bemidji.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley with Rev. Bill Goodman officiating. Interment was in the Landstad Lutheran Cemetery at Shevlin.

Emilie was born on January 4, 1953 at Thief River Falls, the daughter of Emmet and Lillian Wagner. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River where she was raised and educated. She attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND for one year and Northwest Technical College in Thief River Falls. She was employed at the Thief River Falls Clinic in the insurance department and also at the Best Western in the housekeeping department.

On August 16, 1987, Emilie married Harlan Riggs in Middle River, and for the past 12 years, they had made their home on a farm near Bagley. Emilie worked as a housekeeper for many area families.

She attended the Landstad Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, yard work and helping with the farm animals.

Emilie is survived by her husband, Harlan; her mother, Lillian Wagner of Greenbush; one sister Marvel (Wes) Pesek of Strathcona; six stepchildren, Elizabeth Riggs of Denver, CO, Dennis (Sheryl) Riggs of Alida, Larry (Tressa) Riggs of Bagley, Rebecca Wilson of Columbia Heights, Cindy (Jim) Choc of Lengby and James Riggs of Fosston; seven step grandchildren; two nephews; one niece and one great-nephew.
