
Erskine - Gertrude Rhode, 75, formerly of Red Lake Falls, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. at Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Honorary casketbearers were Renna Hopkins, Paul Warmsbecker, Kim Bejot, Lonnie Bartek, Jim Tvedt and Richard Rhode. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery near Mentor.
Gertrude Lucille Wiles was born on December 5, 1922 to Earl and Alice (Griswold) Wiles at Richmond, CA where she was raised and attended school.
She was united in marriage to Francis Rhode in 1941 at Richmond, CA. Following his discharge from the military the couple returned to the Red Lake Falls area. She worked as a nurse in Crookston and Red Lake Falls until the hospital closed in Red Lake Falls. Francis died on February 24, 1985. Gertrude moved to Bassett, NE and resided there until returning to Red Lake Falls in November of 1997. She has lived in Erskine for the past few months.
Gertrude enjoyed knitting, puzzle books and her cats.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Rhode of California and Ted (Joyce) Rhode of Erskine; and one daughter, Bonnie Rhode of Questa, NM; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one sister, Wilda.
