Catharine Remme, 81

Donaldson - Catharine Remme, 81, died Friday, April 10, 1998 at the Karstad Healthcare Center in Karstad.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Bob Schreiner officiating. Special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek. Casketbearers were David Schires, James Meier, Dean Shafer, Mark Foldesi, Mike Yager and Brad Solberg. Burial was in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. The Gieseke Funeral Home of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.

Catharine Margaret Schaefer was born on May 24, 1916 in Skagen township near Greenbush, the daughter of Charles and Rosella (Meier) Schaefer. She graduated from Greenbush High School in 1933. Catharine worked at Charlie Anderson's store in Greenbush and later did domestic work and child care for several area families for many years.

On January 14, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Remme near Greenbush. They farmed near Robbin until Mr. Remme's death in 1973. Catharine then lived in Kennedy and Donaldson where she was the site manager of the Senior Citizens Nutrition Center at Kennedy. For the past four years, she has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.

Catharine is survived by one son, Ronald Remme of Donaldson; three daughters, Mary (Richard) Solberg of Greenbush, Brenda (Kent) McFarlane of Warroad and Roberta Remme of Goodridge; five grandchildren; two sisters, Delores (Palmer) Haugtvedt of Greenbush and Harriet Marcoulier of Raymond, NH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Samuel, John and Charles Jr.; and two sisters, Rose Mary Schaefer and Charlotte Erickson.
