Dennis Rawerts, 63

Red Lake Falls - Dennis L. Rawerts, 63, died Friday, March 27, 1998 at his rural Red Lake Falls home.

Memorial services were held on Monday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Mark Liesener officiating. Casey Wieland was the organist. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery near Red Lake Falls.

Services will also be held today (Wednesday, April 1) at Bloomington Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Reverend Mark Liesener officiating.

Dennis Lammert Rawerts was born on June 7, 1934 in Gervais township of Red Lake county, the son of Vay and Minnie (Ulrich) Rawerts. He was raised there and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army and served in the Special Forces from August 10, 1953 until his discharge on August 9, 1956 at Fort Sheridan, IL.

On June 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Eva Sharp at Fort Sheridan, IL. The couple moved to Bloomington where they lived for 40 years, and Dennis was employed at Ziegler. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Red Lake Falls in August of 1996.

Dennis enjoyed working with his hands and helped everyone at work and church.

He is survived by his wife, Eva of Red Lake Falls; two sons, Reverend D. Thomas (Cheryl) Rawerts of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and Timmothy F. (Nancy) Rawerts of Eden Prairie; six grandchildren; his father, Vay Rawerts of Red Lake Falls; twin brother, Daniel (Carol) Rawerts of Thief River Falls; and three sisters, Sylvia (Earl) Berg of Red Lake Falls, Connie (Rev. Art) Spomer of Broken Arrow, OK and Dr. Patricia (Marvin) Rawerts-Dahl of Bloomington.

Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Daniel "Teddy" Rawerts; mother, Minnie; and one sister, Myrna Rawerts.
