Henry Rasmussen, 84

Middle River - Henry Rasmussen, 84, died Saturday, June 19, 1999 at Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, ND.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Reverend John Jorgenson officiating. Lois Peterson was the organist, and the soloist was Barb Geer. Casketbearers were LaVerne Nelson, Gene Nelson, Dean Hemp, David Rasmussen, Elmer Rasmussen and Gordon Nelson. Honorary casketbearers were Henry's grandchildren. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Middle River. The Collins Funeral Home of Middle River was in charge of the arrangements.

Henry Rasmussen was born on July 31, 1914 in Cedar township of Marshall county near Middle River, the son of Oscar and Ida (Olson) Rasmussen. He grew up and attended school near Middle River and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Henry lived and farmed in Cedar township for many years and also worked at the elevator in Middle River, retiring in 1976. He lived at Royal Manor Apartments in Middle River until May of 1993 when he moved to Grafton, ND. Since May of 1994 he had resided at Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton.

He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church of Middle River and the Thief River Falls Eagles Club.

Survivors include three sons, Loren (Kathy) of Kokomo, IN, Larry (Sandy) of South St. Paul and Ron (Marlene) of Grafton; three daughters, Darlene Terry of Fargo, ND, Crystelle Underdahl of Starbuck and Diane Rasmussen of Eagan; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Elvina Kolden, Bertha Nelson and Elsie Knutson, all of Middle River; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Fred, Clarence, Elmer, Walter and John; and three sisters, Ellen, Anna and Sena. A00003B1999JN23
