Rev. Arthur Ramsland, 77

Stillwater - Rev. Arthur E. Ramsland, 77, died Friday, August 11, 2000 at Stillwater.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at First Evangelical Free Church at Maplewood with Dr. Robert Gibson, Rev. LaReau Thorwall, Rev. Jim Crayford and Rev. Paul Berggren officiating. Darlene Dexter was the organist. Soloist was Bob Witt. Special music was provided by Darlene Dexter, Naomi Chelstrom and Paige Lincoln and Everett and Arlette Kompelien.

Casketbearers were Stephen Ramsland, Philip Ramsland, Mark Ramsland, Gary Andaas, Gary Stephens and Greg Arnold. Honorary casketbearers included Sonja Knight, Heather Knight, Ben Ramsland, Tom Ramsland, John Ramsland, Brittany Miller, Callie Ramsland and Anna Ramsland. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.

During his career, Rev. Ramsland served the following churches: Evangelical Free Covenant EFC, Grafton, ND, 1946-48; EFC, Strathcona, 1948-52; Bethel EFC, Fargo, ND, 1952-57; Trinity EFC, Teaneck, N.J., 1957-62; Highland Park EFC, Des Moines, Iowa, 1962-68; First EFC, St. Paul, 1968-79; Village EFC, Maple Plain, 1979-84; and Wayzata EFC, 1985-93.

He served on the Home Mission Board of EFCA, was vice secretary and secretary of North Central District, was vice-chairman of East District and served as vice-chairman and chairman of Central District. He also served as Ministerial vice chairman for three years.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pearl Ramsland (formerly of Thief River Falls); two daughters, Susan (Gary) Stephens of Stanton, Iowa and Dawn Miller of Stillwater; three sons, Stephen (Jill) Ramsland of Minnetrista, Philip (Evelyn) Ramsland of St. Louis Park and Mark Ramsland of Scandia; eight grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (June) Ramsland of Greenville, Ill.; and other family members.
