
Thief River Falls - Raymond Rambeck, 77, died Tuesday, September 29, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 1998 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Tim Bauer officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and special music included a duet by Brenda Marben and Barbara Storm and a solo by Brenda Marben. Casketbearers were Stephen Rambeck, Scott Rambeck, Mike Johnston, Joshua Curfman, Jill Bresson and Susan Johnston. Fellow Soo Line employees were the honorary casketbearers. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Raymond Chester Rambeck was born November 3, 1920 in Thief River Falls, the son of Arthur and Clara (Hamre) Rambeck. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating with the class of 1939.
On November 30, 1941 he was united in marriage to Edith Anderson in Carlos, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Raymond began employment with the Soo Line Railroad in August of 1942 and retired in December of 1981.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Masons and Shriners and served as local chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Division 768.
He enjoyed fishing, photography, electronics and railroading and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Edith of Thief River Falls; four sons, Charles (Agnes) Rambeck of Sauk Rapids, John (Joanne) Rambeck in Alexandria, Paul (Darlene) Rambeck of Grand Forks and Tom (Julie) Rambeck of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Jeanne (Delbert) Johnson of Devils Lake, ND; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Elaine (Donald) Peterson of Twin Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Laverne Rambeck; stepmother, Julia Rambeck; and stepbrother, Howard Haugen.
