Aloysius Radniecki, 81

Oklee - Aloysius "Al" A. Radniecki, 81, died Thursday, July 13, 2000 at Perham Memorial Hospital in Perham.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee with Father Gary LaMoine and Deacon John Eisbrener officiating. Barb Melby was the organist, and special music was provided by Carolyn Rystad and Lori Melby.

Casketbearers were Joe Radniecki, Bob Radniecki, Monica Hendrickson, Tyler Radniecki, Trudy Radniecki and Greg Radniecki. Honorary casketbearers were Dennis Bachand, Earl Swenson, Darrow Lundeen, Willard Bergeron, Sidney Bergeron, Milan Rustan and Roy Jorgenson. Military honors were accorded by Trail VFW Post 6426. Burial was in St. Frances Xavier Church Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Service, Inc. in charge of the arrangements.

Aloysius Anthony Radniecki was born on April 2, 1919 in Deer Park township near Oklee, the son of John and Emma (Vattendahl) Radniecki. He was raised in Deer Park township and attended grade school there. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1937 and then attended Hansen Welding School in Fargo, N.D. for two years. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

On December 29, 1945, Al was united in marriage to Violet Hruby at Plummer. Al was a life-long construction worker and farmer.

He served on the Oklee City Council and the council of St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church where he was a member. He also served on Oklee's Senior Citizen board and was a member of VFW Post 6426 in Trail, Woodman of the World and Knights of Columbus Council 4619 in Thief River Falls.

Al enjoyed fishing with his family, reading, discussing politics and attending sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Radniecki of New York Mills; three sons, Dean (Angela) Radniecki of Hoyt Lakes, Anthony Radniecki of Fargo, N.D. and Matthew (Julie) Radniecki of New York Mills; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Casimir (Wylma) Radniecki, Roman (Elaine) Radniecki and Virgil (Therese) Radniecki, all of Oklee, and Richard (LaVonne) Radniecki of Arizona; one sister, Catherine (Roy) Jorgenson of Thief River Falls; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Stanley Radniecki and Jack Radniecki; and two sisters, Anne Grimes and Helen Frank. A00003B2000JL19
