Oscar Qualey, 98

Gully - Oscar Qualey, 98, died Thursday, November 19, 1998 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, November 25) at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Reverend Robert Rains officiating. Interment will be in Lund Lutheran Cemetery in Gully.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cease Funeral Home in Bagley. It will also be held one hour prior to services at the church today.

Oscar Qualey was born on March 25, 1900 at Wanke, the son of Amund and Ingeborg Qualey. He lived in the Gully area all of his life, working as a woodsman as a young man and later as a farmer.

On September 12, 1931 he married Inga Tinnesand at Crookston. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1992.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Gully.

Oscar is survived by nine daughters, Evelyn Myrum of Clearbrook, Betty (Gary) Ost of Biwabik, Geraldine (Bill) Staye of Howard Lake, Helen (Loren) Klopp of Thief River Falls, Sandra (Gary) Buerman of Bloomington, Joann (Burl) Houts of New Hope, Pat (Arnie) Westling of Turtle River, Carol (Darwin) Eidelbes of Goodridge, and Elaine (Parker) Anderson of Clearbrook; one son, David (Lisa) Qualey of Goodridge; 29 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Opal Eck; one son, Howard; his parents; six sisters; and five brothers.
