Alice Puschinsky, 89

Karlstad - Alice V. Puschinsky, 89, died Thursday, July 15, 1999 at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center in Karlstad.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 19 at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad with Pastor Gary Halvorson officiating. Bev Folland was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Ruth Halverson. Casketbearers were Jason Carlson, Dale Klegstad, Don Johnson and Marlo Nordlund. Interment was in the Karlstad Cemetery.

Alice V. Martinson was born on September 14, 1909 in Kittson county near Karlstad, the daughter of Nels P. and Brita (Wikhelm) Martinson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was educated in the Karlstad community where she grew up.

Alice attended nurse's training and was employed as a registered nurse at the Ah Gwah Ching State Hospital in Walker for many years.

She was united in marriage to William "Red" Puschinsky, and they resided in Iowa where they ran a resort. They also resided in Omaha, NE, Lake Bronson and Halma. After the death of her husband, Alice continued to reside at Halma and then in Warren and at Karlstad for two years. Since August of 1994 she has made her home at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center.

Alice is survived by one sister, Lilly Nordlund of Hallock; one brother, Rudy (Clarice) Martinson of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six brothers, Woodrow, George, Edward, Ferdy, Harold and one in infancy; and four sisters, Elsie, Bertha, Myrtle and one in infancy. A00003B1999JL21
