Lawrence Prudhomme, 59

Erskine - Lawrence "Larry" Prudhomme, 59, died Thursday, March 25, 1999 at his home in Erskine.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 29 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor with Father Gerald Noesen, Father Joseph Kieselbach and Deacon John Bruggeman con-celebrating. Burial was in the parish cemetery with military rites provided by Bailey-Throne American Legion Post 596 of Erskine. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston was in charge of the arrangements.
Lawrence Edward Prudhomme was born on March 10, 1940 in Crookston, the son of Edward J. and Anna J. (Fontaine) Prudhomme. He was baptized at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly and attended school in Crookston. Larry served in the U.S. Army from May of 1958 until September of 1963.
On September 6, 1974 he was united in marriage to Donna Walker at Mentor. Larry had been employed at Crookston Coca-Cola Bottling Company and learned his plumbing trade at Detroiter in Red Lake Falls where he was a union steward. He had also been employed with Erskine Manufacturing Co., had owned and operated Larry's Plumbing and was currently employed as a heavy equipment operator by Thorson's, Inc. of Bemidji.
Larry was an avid sportsman, always looking forward to the opening of fishing and hunting seasons. He especially enjoyed time spent at their lake home with friends, family and grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor where he was active on the Finance and Building committee and cemetery board. Larry was a member of the Erskine Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years and was the department training officer. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49 and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Assn. He also was an instructor in gun and snowmobile safety, giving many hours to his students.
Larry is survived by his wife, Donna of Erskine; five daughters, Renee (Stuart) Hesby of Crookston, Sandra (Allan) Hill of Moorhead, Theresa Prudhomme (special friend Mike) of Mentor; Diana (Mike) Cirks of Marshall; and Kimberly (Robert) Jacobson of Fargo; five stepchildren, Carrie (Tim) Prudhomme of Crookston, Gary Walker (special friend Angela) of Fridley, Denise (Dan) Ness of Erskine, John (Val) Walker of Crookston, and Jeffrey (Laura) Walker of Erskine; 25 grandchildren; one brother, Hilaire (Jean) Prudhomme of Milwaukee, WI; four sisters, Florence (Leo) Dufault, Madeline (Francis) St. Michael and Doris (Richard) Sweep, all of Crookston, and Dorothy (Francis) LaCoursiere of Milwaukee, WI; and two sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by twin granddaughters; his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Paul Prudhomme; and two sisters, Cecelia Prudhomme and Theresa Longtin. A00003B1999MR31
