Philip Prichard, 81

Thief River Falls -- Philip J. Prichard, 81, died Monday, March 6, 2000 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.

A memorial service was held on Friday, March 10, at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Daniel Horn officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and special music was provided by Glenda Olson. Philip's body was donated to the University of Minnesota for medical research.

Philip Prichard was born on June 5, 1918 in Thief River Falls, the son of W.W. and Lois Prichard. He attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1936. In June of 1941, he entered service and served as an officer with the 36th Infantry, taking part in the invasion of Italy. He was awarded a Silver Star. Upon returning to Thief River Falls in February of 1946, he became a part owner of Prichard Bros. Construc-tion until his retirement in 1976.

On May 14, 1948, Phil was united in marriage to Marion Winger, and they have made their home in Thief River Falls.

He was an active member of the Elks, Masons, Shrine and American Legion. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Phil enjoyed hunting, playing cards and especially spending time at his cabin at Northwest Angle.

Survivors include his wife, Marion of Thief River Falls; two sons, Burton (Marlene) Prichard of Poquoson, VA and Gordon (Amanda) Prichard of The Woodlands, TX; one daughter, Pamela (Scott) Holm of Eagan; four grandchildren; and two brothers, William Prichard of Hockessin, DE and Jarvis Prichard of Thief River Falls.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sue; one brother, Bruce; and one grandson.
