Boulder, CO - Marion Prestby, 92, died Tuesday, December 16, 1997 in Boulder, CO.
A memorial service was held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Boulder on Saturday, December 20 with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Marion Olive Oseth was born on October 21, 1905 to Peder and Mina (Nelson) Oseth in Oslo. In 1924, she married Hans Oscar Prestby in Thief River Falls. Hans died in 1968.
Marion attended schools in Wabonica and Big Woods. Marion and Hans farmed in Wisconsin for seven years and then in the Thief River Falls area until 1952 when they moved into Thief River Falls where they operated H & M Grocery. After her husband's death, Marion worked at Family Bowl. In 1980 she moved to Boulder, CO where she was active in the women's organizations of the Lutheran Church.
Marion is survived by one daughter, Eileen Johnson of Broomfield, CO; one son, Hanlon Prestby of Canton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Pauline Johnson of Menomonie, WI, Geraldine Stark of Hastings, NE, Evelyn Greskowiak of Hibbing and Ruth Morgando of Beaverton, OR; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marion was preceded in death by one brother Ole Oseth in 1981.
