Pearl Poppenhagen, 95

İİİ Thief River Falls - Pearl Poppenhagen, 95, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 13 at the New Life Family Worship Center-Assembly of God in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Virgil Rasmussen officiating. Casket bearers included grandsons: Lowell Poppenhagen, Clinton Martinez, Phillip Poppenhagen, Arlan Hofstad , Jeromy Poppenhagen, Jared Hofstad, Robbie Hofstad, Alan Poppenhagen, Corey Poppenhagen, Brian Poppenhagen and Jason Poppenhagen. Honorary casket bearers included Michelle Poppenhagen-Gribble, Kathy Poppenhagen, Lynnea Poppenhagen, Denise Olsen, Bethany Poppenhagen, Karmen Johnson, Kristen Skinner, Lisa Jackson, Sharon Wycoff, Susan Forsythe, Lynelle Smith, Lorinda Schilling, LeAnn Doll and April Jamison. Interment was held at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Espelie Township, Marshall County.

İİİPearl Clarissa Solley was born on January 23, 1909 in Moylan Township, Marshall County, the daughter of Frederick Solley and Mina Larson. She was adopted by John and Gerda (Swenson) Lamparter at the age of 2 years. She attended Grade School in District 98, Moylan Township. She also attended Goodridge High School, graduating in 1926. Pearl took care of her invalid mother for some time.

İİİPearl was united in marriage to Earl ?Phinnie? Poppenhagen on December 20, 1927 in Thief River Falls. The couple lived and farmed in Moylan Township for two years. They also lived in Cloverleaf Township, near Mavie and farmed for 4 years. The couple moved to the Newfolden area for a time before moving back to Goodridge and continued farming. Pearl and Phinnie moved to Thief River Falls in 1958. Phinnie died on May 17, 1965.

İİİShe worked as a seamstress for Bjorkmanís Clothing for many years and she also worked at Oakland Park Nursing Home in the early 1960s.

İİİPearl loved to read, cook, sew and play the pump organ. Pearlís family was very important to her and she loved their visits.

İİİPearl was a member of the New Life Family Worship Center and was formerly active in Christian Womenís Club. She taught Sunday school for many years. She moved into Oakland Park Nursing Home in the Spring of 2002.

İİİPearl is survived by two daughters, Faith (Isaac) Martinez of Blaine, and Linda (Glenn) Hofstad of Trail; three sons: Louis Poppenhagen of El Cajon, Calif., James (Margie) Poppenhagen of Princeton and Ronald (Sheryl) Poppenhagen of Gillette, Wyo.; 27 grandchildren; and 43 great grandchildren.

İİİShe was preceded in death by her husband; her birth parents; her adoptive parents; three sons: Glen Poppenhagen, Earl Poppenhagen and Leroy Poppenhagen; two grandsons; one brother, Herman Solley; one step-sister, Selma Solley Miest; and one sister, in infancy.İİİİİİA00003B2004AG17
