
Brooks - Frank Xavier Plante, 97, died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, November 24) at 10:30 a.m. at Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee with Rev. Gary LaMoine officiating. Barb Melby will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Ray Lessard, Sherman Plante, David Rosnow, Charles Walton, Richard Hansen and Elmer Plante. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery near Oklee.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Frank Xavier Plante was born on June 8, 1902 in Lambert township of Red Lake county, the son of Louis and Mary (Clermont) Plante. He was raised and attended school in Lambert township.
On September 6, 1931 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Charboneau in Oklee. The couple bought a home near Brooks in Lambert township where he farmed all of his life. After retirement, Frank enjoyed gardening. He entered the McIntosh Manor Nursing home in McIntosh on July 4, 1996.
Frank enjoyed farming, watching television, listening to the news and discussing politics. He also enjoyed music, singing and being with children. He had two horses named King and Queen.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle of Oklee; three sons, Ernest (Beverly) Plante of Erskine, Johnny (Diane) Plante of Brooks and Robert Plante of McIntosh; three daughters, Sarah (Richard) Hansen of Clearbrook, Judy Olson of Red Lake Falls, Linda (Carole) Rodriguez of Ft. Worth, TX; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Frank Jr. and infant John; two daughters, infant Verna and Eunice Qualley; five brothers, Vedo, Thomas, William, Samuel and Albert; two sisters, Albina Barness and Florence Solie; and three sons-in-law, Ernest Horn, Steve Olson and Leo Qualley.
