Karlstad - Carl Peterson, 93, died Saturday, May 31, l997 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at the Karlstad Gospel Tabernacle in Karlstad with Pastor M. Gordon Fox and Reverend John A. Riveness as officiants. Vocalists Wendell Jorgenson and Johnel Fox will be accompanied by Sharon Brown, the pianist. Casketbearers will be Howard Hvidsten, Daryl Bristlin, Curtis Hageland, Palmer Hallberg, Eric Heath and Jual Carlson. The family will consider funeral attendees the honorary casketbearers. Interment will be in the Karlstad Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Carl Peterson, the son of the late Gustaf and Anna (Kringstad) Peterson, was born on October 16, l903 in East Park Township near Strandquist. He attended school there and later moved to Karlstad with his mother.
Carl was employed as a farm laborer and later worked for Sam Vagle in his garage as a mechanic. He also worked as a mechanic for his brother, Henry, at Karlstad. In l950, he moved to Chicago, IL where he worked for several years.
On July 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Frances Bakko Berkholtz at Karlstad, and the couple has made their home there since. Carl delivered the Grand Forks Herald to area communities for several years. He was a member of the Karlstad Gospel Tabernacle.
In failing health the past two years, he resided in the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center.
Carl is survived by his wife, Frances; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The last surviving member of his family, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, August, Alfred, Henry and Oscar in childhood; and five sisters, Hannah, Gena, Paula, Minnie and Olga.
