Albert Peterson, 84

İİİ Thief River Falls - Funeral services for Albert Peterson, 84, were held on Monday, August 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Casket bearers included Bruce Nelson, Terry Nelson, John Nelson, Mike Bleeker, Jesse Young and Dan Bleeker. Honorary casket bearers include grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Bert and Bernice. Military honors were provided by American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post 117 and VFW Post 2793.

  Albert Walter ?Bert? Peterson, was born December 12, 1919, in Polk County. His mother, Clara Peterson died in 1921 and father Arthur Peterson died 1924. He was raised by grandparents Ludvig and Anna Larson. He attended UND.  Albert was a veteran of World War II, having spent 4 years in South Pacific. 

İİİHe married Naomi Stein in 1950 and moved to Alaska where daughters Joy and Sue and son Bert ?Luddy?  were born. Luddy died in 1995 and Naomi died in 1977.  They moved to Minneapolis in 1964. He was employed by State Farm Insurance.

İİİHe retired in 1980, in Thief River Falls. Albert married Bernice Nelson in 1981 and since then had lived in Thief River Falls and Mesa, Ariz.

İİİAlbert was a member of the American Legion, Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and Associate Member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mesa, Ariz.  Survivors include his daughters, Joy Peterson of St. Louis Park, and Sue (Mike) Bleeker of Andover;  stepsons, Bruce (Clar) Nelson of Ham Lake, Terry (Judy) Nelson of Thief River Falls, John (Phyllis) Nelson of Sioux Falls, S.D., stepdaughters, Bonnie (Greg) Sampson, Northwood, N.D., and Evelyn [Ned] Moore of Lakeville; seven grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brother Loyd (Mae) Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters Hazel Nelson of Bemidji,   Jeanette Frutiger of Sacramento, Calif. and Lylah Lee [deceased].

İİİThe above was written by Bert on August 19, 1998. Bert died peacefully on August 19, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. In recent years Bert and Bernice enjoyed fishing, traveling and other adventures. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he was a kind and loving man who made friends wherever he went.
