Karlstad - Bertha Person, 106, died Friday, May 1, 1998 at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 4 at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad with Pastor Jim Mickelson officiating. Kirsten Olson was the organist, and Bev Folland was the soloist. Casketbearers were Tim Olson, James Johnson, Craig Bolin, John Mortenson, Terry Englund and Jonothan Pearson. Interment was in the Karlstad Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Bertha Olson, the daughter of Martin and Sigrid (Sakrison) Olson, was born on June 14, 1891 in Sweden. She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Karlstad community.
On February 21, 1921 she was united in marriage to Herbert Person at Hallock. The couple made their home on the original Person homestead in Deerwood township of Kittson county near Karlstad. In 1975 they moved to the Karstad Memorial Nursing Center. After Herbert passed away on April 27, 1978, Bertha continued to make her home at the nursing center. She was a long-time member of Karlstad Baptist Church.
Bertha is survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Zak, Walfred, Ole and Andrew; and two sisters, Sigrid and Bertha, in infancy.
