Lloyd Pelton, 90

Bison, SD - Lloyd Pelton, 90, died Tuesday, December 8, 1998 at Hill Crest Care Center in Hettinger, ND.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 11 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roger Dieterle officiating. Ann Kniffen was the organist. Casketbearers were Paul C. Dinkins, Bryan Dinkins, Pat Dinkins, Marvin Schmidt, Paul Dinkins and Dan Dinkins. Military honors were provided by the Sturgis Honor Guard. Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery.

Lloyd Austin Pelton was born on June 1, 1908 at Dickinson, ND, the son of Austin Howard and Janet (Cherry) Pelton. He attended school at Dunn Center, ND, and he later attended and graduated from Hanson Auto School of Fargo, ND.

On December 21, 1931 he married Helen M. Monroe at Dickinson, ND. In 1937 the couple moved to Middle River where they lived until 1966. Lloyd worked for Shookey Construction until he enlisted and served in the Army Ordinance Corps. He served from February of 1943 until his honorable discharge as a T/Sgt. on December 21, 1945. For 22 months, he served on active duty overseas. He returned to his work as a mechanic in the highway construction field.

In 1966, Lloyd and Helen moved to Harwood, ND, Lloyd worked for William Collins & Sons of Fargo, ND. He retired at the age of 79. They moved to Newell, SD in 1988.

Survivors included three nieces, one nephew, and several cousins.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister and one brother.
