Bertyl Pederson, 66

Newfolden - Bertyl Pederson, 66, died Monday, January 11, 1999 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 14 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Reverend John Jorgenson officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist. Jamie Hensey will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be John Gustafson, Boyd Wilson, Raymond Nelson, Steve Hensey, Ernie Melvie and Dennis Nelson. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in New Solum township of Marshall county.

Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, January 13) from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Bertyl LeRoy Pederson was born on May 2, 1932 in Viking township of Marshall county, the son of Gilbert S. and Olga Amanda (Larson) Pederson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended Edgewood School and Newfolden High School.

On June 15, 1963 he was united in marriage to Beverly Bakke at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden. The couple farmed on the Pederson farm in New Solum township of Marshall county, raising cattle and small grains. Bertyl suffered a stroke in June of 1996 and moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home on June 6, 1997.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden.

Bertyl is survived by his wife, Beverly; three daughters, Nancy (Curt) Hutchins of Kalamazoo, MI, and Pam Pederson and Brenda Pederson, both of Thief River Falls; one granddaughter; two brothers, Gaylord (Sonya) of Thief River Falls and Vernon (Pat) of Moorhead; one sister, Arlyce (Jim) Andrews of Apopka, FL; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brent Pederson on January 18, 1998; one brother, Gerald Pederson; and one niece.
