
Thief River Falls - Ervin Pearson, 90, died Saturday, July 25, 1998 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, July 29) at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Tim Bauer officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist, and LeRoy Aasland will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Mike Pearson, Jeff Pearson, Lyle Sonnenberg, Erling Olson, Lenny Hellquist and John Peterson. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held today for one hour prior to services at the church.
Ervin Carl Pearson was born on March 18, 1908 in Thief River Falls, the son of Carl and Hannah (Dahl) Pearson. As a young boy, he lived in Coeur'd Alene, ID and then moved to Crookston where he attended school and was baptized at the English Lutheran Church.
Ervin began working for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in 1928. In 1935, he was united in marriage to Edythe Jaranson. The couple lived in Warren, Hallock, Karlstad, Bemidji and Argyle before moving to Thief River Falls in 1938. In 1955, Ervin received a degree in engineering. He retired for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in 1973.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and all sports. Ervin was a supporter of youth activities in the Thief River Falls area. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers, the Elks Club, the Masons and the Shriners.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Edythe of Thief River Falls; one son, Kenneth of Detroit Lakes; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Glen and Kenneth Pearson.
