Bruce Paulson, 77

İİİChicago, Ill. - Bruce Paulson, 77, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Community Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in Naperville, Ill.

İİİFuneral services were held at Knollcrest Funeral Home in Lombard, Ill.

İİİBruce Paulson was born on Christmas in Thief River Falls. While he was still a schoolboy the family relocated to Grand Forks, N.D.

İİİHe enlisted in the Navy in October 1944 and was honorably discharged in July 1946. He was an aviation boatswainís mate.

İİİWhen he moved to Chicago in 1950, he worked on educational movies for Cornette Films. He joined Fairchildís Chicago bureau in 1952. He started out working at the M&M Club in the Merchandise Mart, taking photos at corset underwear shows.

İİİHe was best known for his work with Womenís Wear Daily, a newspaper covering the womenís apparel business and Fairchildís flagship publication.

İİİBruce was an avid hunter and fisherman. He lived in a house he designed south of Hinsdale.

İİİAs a staff photographer with Fairchild he helped mentor a number of reporters, offering advice in a casual and friendly manner.

İİİBruce is survived by his wife, Pat Xavier, two sons, Steven and Robert; two brothers, Robert and James; a sister, Patty; and three grandchildren. (Chicago Tribune Staff Reporter Sharon Stagenes contribued to this obituary)
