
Plummer - Myrtle Patnode, 100, died Friday, July 23, 1999 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, July 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Lorraine Mercil was the organist. Casketbearers were Jerry Gerardy, Howard Greenwald, Roger Gallant, Ferd DeHate, Gerald "Pony" Toulouse and Joe Fisher. Burial was in St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Cemetery in Plummer. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Myrtle Craft was born on December 21, 1898 in Crookston, the daughter of Eric and Kristina (Christianson) Craft. She grew up and attended country school near Plummer. On November 3, 1921 she was united marriage to Omer O. Guillemette in Plummer. Omer died in 1952. On September 29, 1956 she married Edward Patnode. He died in 1978. In December of 1998, Myrtle entered the Hillcrest Nursing Home where she has since resided.
Myrtle joined the Catholic church in 1921 and actively participated in many of its organizations. She served the community as a 4-H leader and worked as a telephone operator, pastry cook in the hotel in Red Lake Falls, at the Co-op store in Plummer, Ace Hardware store in Red Lake Falls and at numerous other locations.
Myrtle is survived by one daughter, Patricia Larson of Plummer; one brother, Gust (Loretta) Craft of Fargo, ND; two sisters, Clara Mickelson of Thief River Falls and Nora Seibel of Cohasset; one daughter-in-law, Faith Guillemette of Plummer; two stepsons, Virgil (Dorothy) Patnode of Red Lake Falls and Duane (Barbara) Patnode of Coon Rapids; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; two sons, Allen and Donald Guillemette; her parents; six brothers, Ernest, Harry, Art, George, Oscar and Clarence; and two sisters, Lilly and Mabel. A00003B1999JL28
