
Red Lake Falls - Frank Passa, 80, died Friday, February 12, 1999 at his home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 15 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Kathy Knott was the organist, and Brad Schraut was the reader. Giftbearers were Erica and Terri Thorson. Casketbearers were Aaron Passa, Ben Passa, Charles Passa, Kevin Passa, Nick Knott, Roger Passa and Adam Sisler. Burial was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Frank Adam Passa was born on December 11, 1918 in rural Drayton, ND, the son of Frank and Mary (Narloch) Passa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Drayton. He grew up in the Drayton area and attended school in Walsh county.
On February 10. 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Company C of the 164th Infantry. He was honorably discharged on August 27, 1945 with the rank of Technician Fourth Grade-Sergeant.
On January 11, 1947 Frank was united in marriage to Lucille Brosseau at Drayton, ND. Frank was the owner of Frankie's Bake Shop in Drayton for four years. The couple moved to Thief River Falls in 1952, and Frank worked for Land O' Lakes for 32 years until his retirement in 1984. In 1994 the couple moved to Red Lake Falls.
He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls for 42 years and was currently a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. Frank was also a member of the VFW Post in Thief River Falls and the American Legion Post in Red Lake Falls. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and Golden Kiwanis.
He enjoyed gardening woodworking, fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his family.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lucille of Red Lake Falls; two sons, Dennis (Norma) of Watkins and Pat (Ginger) of Newfolden; four daughters, Carol (Jim) Knott of Red Lake Falls, Candy Thorson of Fargo, ND, Beth (Dave) Sisler of Thief River Falls, and Sherry (Brad) Schraut of Stillwater; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Andrew of Arizona, Joe of Drayton, ND, Steve of Grand Forks, ND and Ted (Lucille) of Drayton, ND; one sister, Helen (Pete) Byzewski of Drayton, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Leo and Jacob; and one sister, Francis. A00003B1999FB17
